Wash your limb daily as you would normally. Bathing in the evening is recommended as heat may cause your leg to swell, which may make it more difficult to put on your prosthesis.

Do not shave your residual limb as short hairs may be pushed back into the skin from wearing your prosthesis, causing ingrown hairs leading to infection.

Apply lotion to your residual limb in the evening, allowing it to soak in overnight.

Cleaning your Prosthesis

You should clean your prosthesis every day using a warm washcloth with liquid hand soap or a 50/50 water and alcohol mix to wipe out the inside of the socket. Remove any residue before putting your prosthesis back on.
